About Me
My name is Cade Smith. I am the founder of FishEx Seafoods.
I graduated from the University of Washington in the summer of 1997 with a degree in business, then came to Alaska to become a commercial fisherman. My first deck job was on a seiner, fishing for salmon around Kodiak Island. In the fall of that year, I found my way to Dutch Harbor and landed my first job on a crab fishing boat. I worked as a Bering Sea crab fisherman for 7 seasons.
The idea for FishEx came to me in 1997, while working on the seiner. I founded the company in 1998.
I am a foodie, with an appetite that was legendary back in my hard-working days as a crabber. My friends observe with amusement that running a seafood company is the perfect job for me. I sell seafood, and I am very passionate about what I do.
